It usually isn't a good sign when someone loses a contact before a match.

The tribe begins their pre-game ritual, modeled after the fierce war dances of the Maori.

The speed of the dance begins to grow.

Until ultimately it becomes a blurred frenzy. Coach Dexter can only say, "I wish they would move that fast on the court."

The opponent for today bows down to honor the mighty, mighty SDA Mustangs.

When K-Cro is not playing volleyball, or studying, she goes to her job as the back-up system for the San Diego county emergency broadcast network. In case the network fails or the electrical power is disrupted, Kelsey simply shouts as loud as she can and alerts ALL the people of San Diego  as to what the emergency is and what people should do. Allison is in training, only 600 decibels short of K-Cro.

It is said that volleyball is the only sport where the shadow you cast shows who you really are.

Using her famed scissor leg kick, Gia elevates to the apex of her 48" vertical jump.

Felicia, only for a moment, considers aiming for Dexter as she serves, just to see if he could dig it.

At one of her many volleyball camps, Kami learned the "shake-a-leg" serve, which is designed to distract the opponents, or signify urinary discomfort.

After a particular stunning and imaginative play, several team members break out into the feared little gerbil dance, complete with limp wrists and slight ankle gyrations, topped off by a nose wiggle.

When it's time to get down to business, the Vanessa, Kami, G-Unit and Leanne, as seniors, take over.

Setting up their innovative "triangle defense" Special-K, Muhammad Ali and the Spikinator position themselves.

After hitting another scorching serve, Dez always like to sniff the air to smell the burning trail of oxygen and leather.

 

Bean, Sam-Dawg, K-Cro, Spider Woman and Yolanda demonstrate the proper way to move when "square dancing." Vanessa and Kenzie rave to the action, Kayla claps fanatically, while Dez only gives a mild arm swing of approval. Shavonda is too stunned to participate as Kami is floored by the performance. Lastly, Leanne estimates the average vertical jump by the opposing team.
